(Rowland Heights, Calif., November 5, 2012) Fourth and fifth grade students from area schools are learning about water resources thanks to a $2,500 grant from Rowland Water District. Instructors from the Youth Science Center are teaching classes through February 2013.

“Water is critical, especially in California, so making hands-on, interactive lessons helps the learning come alive,” said Mrs. Korkowski, Jellick Elementary School 4th/5th grade teacher.

Over the course of three days students are guided through three different hands-on water related activities. Students learn about the water cycle, the states of water and where the local water supply comes from. They also become scientists as they test water samples.

“Giving a field trip experience within the classroom is a great way for us to support education in our community,” said Ken Deck, Rowland Water District General Manager.
