Rowland Water District Adjusts Expenses to Maintain Financial Stability
The 2016-2017 budget reflects a revenue drop from conservation

(September 7, 2016) – Rowland Water District (RWD) has adjusted its capital improvement projects and pared down expenses to maintain a balanced budget for 2016-2017.

RWD’s Board of Directors unanimously approved a $19.7 million budget on June 14.

“All agencies in California struggled from the drought and a decrease in water sales,” RWD General Manager Tom Coleman said. “Rowland is an example of prudent financial stewardship. We are able to maintain the quality of service and continue providing dependable water to our customers at a reasonable cost.”

The District relied on its five-year outlook plan to guide expenditures on capital projects. RWD will also continue to pursue additional sources of groundwater to limit reliance on more expensive imported supplies.

“This is one of the most challenging times to work in the water industry, but also one of the most rewarding,” RWD Board President Szu Pei Lu-Yang said. “We have a chance to make a difference for the next generation by acting responsibly today.”
