Blandford Elementary School Student Makes a Splash with Hand-Drawn Illustration

Louis L., a local fourth-grade student at Blandford Elementary School representing Rowland Water District, was selected to be a part of the “Being Waterwise Is” calendar by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD).

MWD’s annual “Being Waterwise Is” art calendar is distributed to about 13,000 recipients across the greater Los Angeles County region. This year, judges selected Louis L. and 36 other entries to be a part of 2024’s calendar design for their inspiring artwork and educational message about conserving water.

“The passion of these young students in spreading the message of saving water offers a hopeful view of our water future,” said Rowland Water District General Manager Tom Coleman. “It is exciting to see the next generation stepping up to address the urgent environmental challenges we face. Their creativity and commitment to this cause is a reminder to us all that we can make a difference if we work together and take action.”

RWD congratulates fourth-grade teacher Margarita Alvarado, who mentored Louis L. and fellow students, fostering exceptional artwork that reflects a dedication to promoting water use efficiency. RWD encourages everyone to join in the effort to conserve water and protect our environment.
