Presentations Inspire Mt. San Antonio College Students to Join Industry

Rowland Water District (RWD) representatives Allen Davidson, Elisabeth Mendez and Dusty Moisio recently delivered highly informative presentations at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC), sharing details about the District’s internship program and available opportunities.

Mr. Davidson, Mrs. Mendez, and Mr. Moisio highlighted the program’s positive impact on students’ professional and personal growth by showing how it helps prospective interns develop new skills and acquire valuable field experience. The presentations provided insight into the District’s culture and values, offering applicants a clear understanding of what to expect should they decide to join the RWD team.

“We are devoted to caring for our interns and their future,” RWD Director of Operations Allen Davidson said. “Our program provides a great opportunity to gain real-world hands-on experience both in the maintenance and operations field; including, mentorship, networking, and career development opportunities.”

In 2016, RWD established its paid internship program in collaboration with Mt. SAC’s Career and Technical Education Center. Participants work closely with District staff over six months to learn about water system operations and maintenance. By working hands-on, students acquire entry-level knowledge and skills essential for full-time employment.

The program was highly praised by participants who are empowered to learn and apply their knowledge in a real-world setting by fostering a partnership between academic and practical learning.

39 participants have been hired from the internship program. 82% of the interns hired completed the program. 78% Have found full time employment in the water utility sector.
