The Board of Directors and staff at Rowland Water District are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Anthony (Tony) Poli, who served as General Manager for nearly two decades. Mr. Poli passed away on Thursday, September 19th after a brief illness. He was a visionary leader and dedicated public servant who will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of working with him.

Tony Poli led Rowland Water District from 1985 to 2003, overseeing a period of remarkable growth and transformation. His forward-thinking leadership and dedication laid the foundation for the District’s continued success. Tony’s innovative approach and passion for improvement helped shape Rowland Water District into the industry leader it is today.

One of Mr. Poli’s most significant accomplishments was his commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into the District’s operations. Under his leadership, the District modernized its infrastructure, ensuring the reliable delivery of clean water to the community. Notably, during the 1980s and 1990s, he spearheaded a groundbreaking agreement with local developers, securing funding for essential water reservoirs and advanced technological systems. This initiative not only brought thousands of new customers to the District but also enabled the acquisition of the District’s first computers and meter-reading systems.

“We are deeply saddened by Mr. Poli’s passing but profoundly grateful for his lasting impact on the District and the community,” said Board President Szu Pei Lu-Yang. “His vision and leadership were instrumental in shaping Rowland Water District’s future, and his contributions will continue to benefit us for years to come. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Mr. Poli was 81 years old and is survived by his wife, three children, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
