Accolade Conferred by Workplace Wellness Leaders
Rowland Heights, CA (October 13, 2023) – Rowland Water District (RWD) is being recognized for its rigorous safety standards with the 2023 Occupational Excellence Achievement Award. The District reported zero injuries in 2022.
The National Safety Council (NSC) award highlights organizations with exemplary injury and illness records. The NSC considers specific criteria from the past year. Recipients must display a lost workday case incident rate better than or equal to 50 percent of the Bureau of Labor Statistics for their North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code and have zero fatalities. The data is self-reported.
“We are equally as devoted to the health and safety of our employees as we are to the health and safety of the drinking water we deliver to the public,” Elisabeth Mendez, Compliance & Safety Manager said. “RWD is honored to receive recognition from the NSC for our dedication to occupational safety.”
By creating a culture of safety, RWD prioritizes the well-being of its employees both in the workplace and beyond. NSC research shows safer workplaces save money and increase productivity while creating a mindset that values safety.
The 2023 Occupational Excellence Achievement Award was presented to the RWD Board of Directors at the October 10 Board meeting.
The NSC is the premier nonprofit safety advocate in the United States, pioneering workplace wellness for 110 years. The mission-based organization has worked to eliminate the leading causes of preventable death and injury, focusing its efforts on the workplace and roadways. The NSC has offered awards and contests to exceptional organizations since its inception, but the award program as we know it was launched in 1952.
